Small spaces: a window cottage

This is sweet. If you’re a keen gardener it would make an awesome glasshouse. If not, it could just be a sunny spot to laze on some cushions and read a magazine. My favourite thing to do…

On closer inspection… this looks like a kiwi backyard? Can anyone second me on that?

Lots and lots and lots more small hideouts here.

Small spaces: A NY apartment

Having lived the simple life in a tiny (but spacious by some standards) one bedroom apartment in London for a few short months I have to admire those who accommodate a whole family in a permanent state of living.

This NY apartment shows you how to do it in style with secret double function furniture and hidden storage.

There’s something cosy about a bed that is closed in on three sides – this one looks like a great spot to curl up with a book for hours on end.

Small spaces: Japanese angles

Through necessity, the Japanese have developed a very refined style of “small spaces”. I could stare at houses like this all day long.

An odd shaped site in Tokyo pushed the design of this house well outside the normal box. I have so much admiration for architects who can have such a vision within a truly challenging brief. Hats off to Mizuishi Architect Atelier.

The interior feels surprisingly uncluttered despite appearing to house a family and accommodating a fully functional kitchen.

Found at Dornob where there is loads more information and pictures.
