We’re running a little late on Christmas this year but as of the weekend, the Duck Egg Blue house is all caught up.
Christmas is happening… let’s get excited!
A massive pine tree at my parents place gifted us a small branch this year. After a couple of years of doing things a little more alternatively (with mixed success) I was hankering for the real deal this year, especially now the kids are old enough to get Christmas a little better.
Here’s our little tree, in all it’s perfect imperfectness! (It’s a wee bit crooked, and a wee bit haphazardly decorated but I love it to bits!)
It helps to have someone in the family whose idea of Christmas goes as far as eating ham and turkey. They are happy doing the dishes while everyone else gets on with more festive things!
How annoying are people who get in your face with the camera or force you into Christmasness by surrounding you with ornaments when you’ve had enough already?!
Awww. It only comes once a year, and for us on the upside-down-side of the world, it’s all summer holidays and sunshine too (we hope). Let’s enjoy it!
To celebrate my win of the luxurious reindeer hide above (from Koko Classics and via The Design Chaser), I’m calling time out for the duration of the kindy holidays.
Routine will be forgotten, and I’ll do my best to practise hibernating. There will be some extra play dates and adventures, lounging by the fire, baking, and… fingers crossed… some shelved projects getting dusted off and underway again.
A few moments in time might make it onto Instagram (@duckeggblueblog) or Facebook, so head there if you want a little dose of Duck Egg Blue.
Have a fabulous couple of weeks… I’ll be back real soon!
With Master W on holiday from kindy I was frantically searching last night for ideas to keep him amused. He is one on the go wee boy and kindy has been great for both of us in terms of keeping things sweet between us! These are the first holidays we’re experiencing and to be honest I’m a bit daunted by the thought…
I was about to throw out an egg carton last night until I remembered they were good for crafty projects – I had to turn to Pinterest to find some.
Seeing as we have the Very Hungry Caterpillar book this one caught my eye. So we painted them up (one each, except Master W lost interest at about the point of the photo above so I’ve painted his up too) this morning and after his sleep they should be dry so we can add eyes and antennae.
In the spirit of this post (like last weeks), it felt great to get some paint and paintbrushes out again and I’m inspired to have a project like this to do every day of these holidays with Master W – even if he doesn’t see it through to the end at least he will see me enjoying myself!
I am currently saving toilet rolls to make this and these.
