Good morning! Finally Friday, and it’s time to get ready for the weekend! Today is Domestic Day, which I love, as no assigned rooms means more time for fun stuff!

My project for this week (it was Project Week over at Domestic Guru) was to make a library bag for my son. I have finished the bones of the bag, and am just in the process of appliqueing a Maisy Mouse on the front. I hope to have it finished either today or tomorrow. What was your project for the week?

I must confess, I didn’t put my washing in last night like I was supposed to. In my defence, it has been raining here the last couple of days, and I have two loads on the line, and another two waiting to be hung. Hopefully we’ll get some nice dry weather today to give me a chance to hang out the wet stuff & maybe do another couple of loads. I won’t complain too much though, we are desperate for rain, so I think some damp washing is acceptable!

Have a great weekend!

Loungeroom & Office day today! My office will recieve most of that time today I think, it is a total lutter magnet!

How are you new habits going? I hit a bit of a wall last night, and really felt like I couldn’t be bothered. All I wanted to do was sit down once the toddler was in bed, but I managed to motivate myself enough & got it done. Maybe that’s a sign that it is starting to become a habit?

Domestic Guru also recommends today’s obscure job is to tidy the front of your fridge, pinboard, or other place where you store paperwork. Tidy it up, throw out old notes and vouchers & reorganise it so it’s easier to find information.

Have a great day!

Hello again! Hump day today, and also my day to clean my bathroom & laundry.

Are you sticking to your new habits? I’m still going strong with both last week’s “fold off the line” habit, and this weeks “washing in before bed” habit. I’m finding these are making a huge difference to the efficiency of my day. Have you noticed a difference yet, or do you think it’s something that will come in time, when the task is automatic?

This week is projects week over at Domestic Guru. Are you getting mich done on your outstanding projects? Yesterday I spent my projects time doing some craft with my little boy, and we made a “camera” out of a bicarb soda box and a couple of lids, lots of fun.

I’m also hoping to make a batch of washing detergent, made from pure soap, washing soda & borax. Cheap as chips, and much gentler on the environment.

How are going with intorducing a new habit this week? I remembered to put my washing in last night, so it’s all ready to hang out. Not only will this save me time, but also money, as I am running the machine during the off-peak period, so the electricity isn’t costing as much! Folding clothes off the line is still going well, definately a time & effort saver. Leave me a comment & let me know what habit you are trying to get started this week.

I’ll be working on my kitchen & dining room today. No shortage of things to be done in there!

Have a great Tuesday!

Monday again! How was your weekend?

Today’s focus rooms are the bedrooms. Try to spend around 1/2 hour in each bedroom getting them spick & span! Our weekly focus this week is projects. take some time each day to work on any projects you have outstanding. I’m going to try & get some scrapbooking done, I’ve gotten very behind since being sick with this pregnancy.

I’m not going to set an obscure job today, but issue you a challenge to introduce one habit this week that will make your domestic life easier. Last week I started folding the washing as I got it off the line, not just chuck it all in the basket & deal with it later. It only added an extra couple of minutes to the job, and then once I was inside, all that needed doing was packing it away! Maybe you could give this a try this week. My new habit for the week is going to be to try & put a load of washing on eash night before bed, ready to hang in the morning before I go out.

Have a great Monday!

Weekend Warriors!

Are you a “weekend warrior”? Do you save up all your housework for the weekend? Well, time to get stuck in. Why not spedn 15 minutes in each focus room after you’ve done your daily chores? If you have mountains of washing, try & wash & hang in between doing your focus rooms.

We tend to do big projects on weekends. This weekend, we are building a sandpit for our little boy. I’ve kicked both the boys out into the backyard to start on the prep whilst I do the daily jobs & a load of washing, and then I’ll join them later on. I’m also thinking of turning our office into a toyroom, so I’ll be working on ideas on how to make that work easily.

Have a great weekend, see you Monday!

I call today Domestic Day! All the rooms in my house have been cleaned on the other four days of the week (well, that’s the theory!), so today is all about being domestic! Do you have rooms that haven’t been covered yet? Maybe you didn’t get a chance to do some of the focus rooms, or you have an outdoor area that needs attention? Today is also a great day to take care of all the other domestic type activities, like baking, sewing, scrapbooking, whatever tickles your fancy!

Today, I’ll be working on designing a quilt for my son’s big boy bed. He is in a toddler bed at the minute, but soon will be transitioning into a single bed, so that we can reclaim the cot for our new baby. I plan on making him a lovely patchwork quilt to help ease the transition. I also have some office work to catch-up on – some design work for my photography business, as well as some book-keeping that I do. If I get all that done with time to spare, I need to spend some extra time in my office, tidying it up, as it is an absolute mess!

Today is also the last day of recycling week over at Domestic Guru. Why don’t you spend some time today looking at what else you could be doing to “Reduce, Re-use, Recycle”? Do you use cloth nappies? Maybe today would be a good day to look into modern cloth nappies. Do you compost? Why not look at making a compost bin, or if you are short on space, look at buying a bokashi bin. If you don’t use reusable shopping bags, why not buy some? Have a think about just one area in your life, where you could cut back on waste going into ladfill, and try & find a more environmentally-friendly way of doing things.

And the obscure job for the day – a 50 item pickup. This one idea completely changed the way my house looks when it’s clean. Once you have completed your daily tasks & focus room, go for a walk through the house & put away 50 items that aren’t in their proper place. I know it sounds a lot, but it is really amazing how many things get out of place during the week!

Have a great day! I’ll be back tomorrow for a “weekend warriors” edition, but if you have weekends off, see you Monday & have a great weekend!

Good morning! Today, my focus rooms are the loungeroom, hallway & office. My office tends to double as a junkroom at times, so i’m not expecting miracles in my 1/2 hour, but I hope I will be able to see the floor by the end!

Domestic Guru tell me that the recycling week task for today is to take any recycling or op-shop stuff to wherever it needs to go, and the obscure job is to clean the exhaust fans in your bathrooms. Due to our lifestyle & my pregnancy, neither of these are options for me today, but I want to keep in the habit of doing them, so I will subsitute my own obscure job: spending 15 minutes to get my tupperware cupboard straightened out!

Have a great day.

My focus rooms today are bathrooms & laundry. For today’s obscure job, I am going to substitute Skipper’s for one of my own, inspired by yesterday’s door task. Do your doors have recesses or fancy bits? Mine do, and they often get overlooked in the cleaning process, but seem to get amazingly grotty, so I must remember to grab a damp cloth, and wipe over the nooks & crannies on my doors

Australian readers may be aware that tomorrow is “Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea”, raising funds for cancer research. Are you hosting, or attending a morning tea tomorrow? Check if you need to bring something, and if so, get baking! I’d love to hear what yummy treats you make, so leave a comment & make us all salivate!
